The New South Wales coastal city of Coffs Harbour is located approximately 540 kilometres North of the state capital Sydney and boasts a population in excess of 70,000. It has a rich, diverse economy, making full use of its location on the coast to attract tourists, to benefit from a vibrant fishing industry, and to export fruit. It enjoys great transport links with the rest of Australia, particularly its rail and flight links. The city has its own racecourse where racing is administered by the Coffs Harbour Racing Club. They usually host more than 7 meetings annually from February to December, with the highlight being the Coffs Harbour Gold Cup normally the first Thursday in August.
